Anita was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. She lived there for 37 years before relocating to Middletown, Ohio in 2000.

She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University (Montgomery campus). She attended 3 years of law school; obtained her Master of Business Administration degree and is in the final phase of completing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

She worked for nearly 20 years in the Montgomery County, Alabama District Attorney’s Office; worked for 7 years as an executive recruiter in Mason, Ohio; taught for 4 years and served as Director of Career Services for 1+ years at Brown Mackie College in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was elected and is serving her second term on the Middletown City Council. She was appointed by the Butler County Commissioners to the Butler County Regional Transit Authority (2nd term); alternate to the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana Board of Governments; member of the executive committee of the Warren County Municipal League. She is an adjunct professor at Cincinnati State Middletown. She is currently the Hospital Relations Manager for The Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, Ohio. She also serves on several committees at Atrium Medical Center including Grievance, Diversity, and Values and Ethics. She is an advisory board member to the Atrium Family YMCA.

She has overcome 5 major surgeries, chemotherapy, and spent 2 years learning to walk again. Anita is married to Lyndon Lorenzo Jones, the man she calls her blessing from God. They have two sons and two granddaughters.
