Greer Glazer, RN, CNP, PhD, FAAN is dean of the College of Nursing and associate vice president for Health Affairs at the University of Cincinnati. A nationally recognized leader in nursing education, Dr. Glazer has spearheaded the development and implementation of a strategic map aimed to position UC as a leader in the transformation of healthcare. She has a strong history of developing community, national and international partnerships and securing federal funding for nursing research, scholarship and program implementation. She continues this work in her leadership role at UC.

Previously led initiatives include her partnerships with Dana Farber-Harvard Cancer Center to establish an NIH funded accelerated baccalaureate to PhD program and post-doctoral program in nursing focused on cancer care, health disparities and health policy; and also with Children’s Hospital of Boston to establish GoKids Boston, a research and training center, to advance the science and clinical practice of improving the health and fitness of children, adolescents and their families. In addition, she has led the development and implementation of several educational and healthcare related programs and initiatives, many of which were externally funded by grants or partnerships she secured.

Dr. Glazer’s research accomplishments relate to women’s health, domestic violence education, alcohol use during pregnancy and barriers to prenatal healthcare among African American women. She has also been instrumental in expanding and leading the research efforts of others in her previous leadership roles. In addition to her research findings, Dr. Glazer has authored or co-authored numerous books and articles on the topics of the nurse and nurse educator workforce, best practices and innovations in nursing education programs, health policy, leadership and a variety of other national and international health and education related issues.

In recognition for her work as researcher, educator and healthcare leader, Dr. Glazer has received significant honors and awards. In 2010, she received the Excellence in Nursing Education Award from Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses. In 2004, she was named Alumni of the Year by Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western University. In 2001, she was selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow. In 1998, she received the Fulbright Scholar Award (Israel). In 1995, she was selected for Fellowship in the American Academy of Nursing. Other significant accomplishments include national leadership for numerous committees and associations. She was most recently elected in 2013 to the board of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).

Dr. Glazer has previously served as dean and professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston College of Nursing; director of parent child nursing and professor at Kent State University, and assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Michigan, and a master’s and PhD degree in nursing from Case Western Reserve University.
